General Information
Horticulture Department was established in 1982 and started undergraduate education in 1983. Since 2011, the department has been reorganized into 4 departments as Fruit Growing and Breeding, Vineyard Growing and Breeding, Vegetable Growing and Breeding and Ornamental Plant Growing and Breeding. Horticulture Department trains agricultural engineers and academics who produce solutions to the problems mentioned above in the basic breeding areas. In order to provide education and research services to our students; There are 70 decares of fruits, 10 decares of vegetables, 6 decares of vineyards and 4 decares of greenhouse areas, 2 cold storage tanks, as well as 2 fruits, 2 vineyards and 1 vegetable-growing laboratory. Our department is one of the most ambitious departments in our field in terms of education and research opportunities of our country with its academic staff and other infrastructure facilities. The aim of the Horticulture program is to train technical staff who have sufficient knowledge and equipment in the fields of horticultural plants and sub-disciplines, who are environmentally conscious, can work in a team, have social and communication skills, take independent decisions and have responsibilities.
