Program Competencies

Program Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

1. Possess theoretical and applied knowledge in methods and techniques related to the cultivation and breeding of fruits, 
vegetables, vines, and ornamental plants, and in the fields of mathematics and science.

2. Have the knowledge to make decisions regarding the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of the
 information they possess in the field of Horticulture.

3. Have knowledge of ecosystems, biodiversity, and sustainable agricultural management, 
rural development, design, planning, and technology use related to horticulture.

4. Have knowledge of developing and evaluating strategies and methods in the field of horticulture.

5. Know and evaluate the relationships between natural resources and agricultural inputs and horticultural production from a management perspective.

6. Have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in their field and have knowledge 
of at least one foreign language (European Language Portfolio B1 level).

7. Establish and operate facilities related to their field. 

8. Possesses the ability to access, research, and evaluate the knowledge and technology needed throughout
 life in the field of Horticulture, to continuously renew oneself, to provide consultancy, and to prepare and implement projects.

9. Identifies the problems encountered in the cultivation and evaluation stages of horticultural plants 
and develops applications and techniques to solve these problems.

10. Engages in individual work and interdisciplinary collaboration.

11. Selects and uses the necessary tools and equipment in field and laboratory studies in the fields of horticulture and related sub-disciplines.

12. Recognizes, uses, develops, and reproduces plant materials related to their field.

13. Shares and disseminates the knowledge gained in the field of horticulture for the benefit of society.

14. Recognizes, uses, and follows developments in information technologies related to their field.

15. Performs applications in irrigation systems, soil science and processing, fertilization, and the diagnosis and control of 
diseases, pests, and weeds in the cultivation of horticultural plants, and identifies materials in these areas.
