Program Content:
The aim is to train technical personnel who have sufficient knowledge and equipment in the fields of
horticultural plants and related disciplines, have a developed environmental awareness,
can work in a team, have social and communication skills, can make independent decisions and are responsible.
History:
The Department of Horticultural Plants was established in 1982 and started undergraduate education in 1983.
Since 2011, the department has been reorganized into 4 main branches: Fruit Growing and Breeding, Viticulture Growing and Breeding,
Vegetable Growing and Breeding and Ornamental Plant Growing and Breeding.
The Department of Horticultural Plants trains agricultural engineers and
academicians who produce solutions to problems in the basic cultivation areas mentioned above.
Degree Awarded
A PhD degree will be awarded.
Admission Requirements
Students wishing to enroll in the department must complete the processes/pass the exams determined by ÖSYM
(Student Selection and Placement Center) within the framework of the university's academic and legal regulations.
Students who have started their education in an equivalent program in Turkey or abroad may apply for a transfer.
Student admissions are reviewed and evaluated individually before the start of the semester, taking into account
each student's conditions and the degree they are applying for. More comprehensive information about university admission is available in the Institutional
Introduction Catalog.
Advancement to Higher Levels
If the conditions are met, an academic career can be continued.

Agricultural Provincial and District Directorates, Agricultural Research Institutes within the Ministry
of Agriculture and Forestry, and various roles within the Agricultural and Rural Development Support Agency of other Ministries
Various agricultural cooperatives and chambers, primarily the Agricultural Credit Cooperative
Public and private agricultural enterprises (seedling facilities, sapling production facilities,
garden establishment and maintenance services, agricultural product sales and marketing)
Opportunities to work as an Agricultural Engineer or in private enterprises
Agricultural Product Processing Facilities (Public, Private Sector)
Expert or Manager, Agricultural Credit Officer in State and Public Banks
Garden Establishment, Arrangement and Maintenance in Provincial Special Administrations, Municipalities, etc.
Landscape and Ornamental Plant Cultivation in the Private Sector and Public Institutions
Measurement and Evaluation
Exams are organized as a midterm, a final, and a make-up exam for each term.
Assessment and evaluation are conducted according to the criteria set by the course instructor. Students must achieve a minimum average of 70.
