  • MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF DEPARTMENT
Dear Students, Esteemed Academics, and Valued Visitors,

Welcome to the Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University.

Tokat, where traditional agricultural culture meets modern scientific approaches and which possesses a unique transitional
climate between the Black Sea and Central Anatolian regions, holds strategic importance for horticultural cultivation.
Our department's mission is to utilize this rich geographical and climatic advantage most effectively to train individuals with the
competence to guide our country's agriculture in the fields of fruit growing, vegetable growing, viticulture, and ornamental plants,
and to produce academic value on a national/international scale.

Our Vision and Approach

Theoretical and Applied Education: We not only provide our students with theoretical knowledge;
we offer an educational model that directly engages them with the field and production through our application areas,
modern greenhouse infrastructure, and fully equipped laboratories.

Future Agricultural Technologies: In the face of global challenges such as climate change and food security;
We conduct innovative research in soilless farming (hydroponic/aeroponic) systems, modern pruning
and training techniques, efficient rootstock use, plant wetting, and digital farming applications.

Regional and National Collaborations: Primarily with the Central Black Sea Transition Zone Agricultural Research Institute (OKTAEM),
we provide our students with a broad internship/research network and offer technical support to regional producers
through our partnerships with sector organizations and international projects (Erasmus+, etc.).

Our aim as the Department of Horticulture is to train qualified agricultural engineers who respect nature, adhere to scientific ethics,
can integrate technology into production, and possess a vision of sustainable agriculture.

We are delighted to welcome you to our department to build the sustainable agriculture and green production of the future together.

With love and respect,
